Sydney based Pipe Band "The Band Club" have won the Australian and South Pacific Pipe Band Championships, the bands first Grade One National Title since 1972.

Led by Pipe Major Scott Nicolson, the Band won in style with 6 firsts and 2 2nds. The win met predictions by a recent DUTK.com poll which saw The Band Club favoured to win the Championships on the back of qualifying inside the Worlds top 14 bands at this years World Pipe Band Championships.

In the other days competitions, Adelaide took out the Grade 2 Championships, LCC Southern Cross the Grade 3 and Sydney's Scots College won a double, taking Grade 4 and Juvenile. Brian Wilson from Northern Ireland won the Drum Majors Competition.

The organisers of yesterdays event can be pleased with the presentation of the Championships and look forward to seeing it return to NSW in 10 years time.
