The Veronica Law School of Highland Dancing practise correct technique as set down by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing - Edinburgh, Scotland.
The school dedicates itself to competitive work, encouraging dancers to compete worldwide using the system set down by the SOBHD as a guide to progress the dancers through the relevant stages of learning. Dancers compete to a high standard, with the school being one of Australia's most prolific competitive schools.
As part of the training for competitive work, dancers attend 3 lessons a week with additional "Championship" classes fortnightly. The school utilises its Internationally qualified teachers in all lessons to create an across the board approach to correcting errors and improving technique and style. Dancers are also cross trained in plyometrics, strength and stamina.
The school enjoy performance art and have taken Scottish dancing to a new level with their contemporary approach to dance entertainment. We regularly create stageshows around the country, incorporating newage sounds with cutting edge dance techniques. In addition to this dancers are encouraged to join the Ozscot Australia team which performs in major venues worldwide delivering powerful team choreography.
Further to the hectic competitive and performance schedule, dancers sit examininations with the Scottish Dancing Association of Australia and we make available exams of an International standard through the United Kingdom Alliance for dancers travelling outwith Australia.
It is with this blended approach to Highland Dancing that Veronica Law instills a lifelong love of our artistic sport into everyday people. It is a recipe that has been brewed since 1963 and with the many achievements of the Veronica Law School of Highland Dancing, this recipe will be enjoyed by generations of dancers to come.
